Lakbay-Turo Volunteer Group shared its expertise in contextualized and localized teaching to the selected faculty members from Humanities (Filipino, Research, History and Social Science), teachers from junior and senior high school and school administrators of Aklan Catholic College.
The said activity is entitled, ‘Lakbay-Turo: Sharing Best Practices Rooted in Local Culture of Humanities Teachers’ with its rationale: Lakbay-Turo is a volunteer group which shares best practices in teaching with different schools all over the Philippines. As a group, it believes that teaching should be contextualized and localized by taking into consideration local realities and culture. The group has extensive engagements in Department of Education divisions in the country such Quezon City and Zamboanga.
Lakbay-Turo is composed of teachers from the Philippine Science High School – Main Campus (PSHS-MC). These educators are teachers of Humanities courses such as English, Filipino, and Social Science. These teachers believe that it is important for them to share their knowledge, expertise, and experiences in teaching the scholars and students of the 21st century.
Furthermore, it has been part of their goals to be active participants, helpers, movers, and molders in the teaching community with the emphasis on inclusive and equitable education. This training may include but it is not limited to English, Filipino, Social Science, Research, and Assessment.
