Theme: “ACC: 70 Years as Haven of Catholic Education for Truth and Life”





The ACC Diamond Celebration Hymn is a songwriting competition open to amateur and professional composers who are current students or alumni of Aklan Catholic College, then Aklan College. The hymn will be officially launched during the Grand Alumni Homecoming on January 12-13, 2015 in time for ACC’s 70th birthday. The song will automatically be used for the succeeding annual celebration of alumni until 2020. Aklan Catholic College will be the official music publisher of the winning song.



Song entries should epitomize the diamond year of Aklan Catholic College as an educational institution, thus, the theme: “ACC: 70 Years as Haven of Catholic Education for Truth and Life”. The theme is actually culled from the original hymn of the College. The celebration hymn must also embody ACC’s seven decades of glorious feats in religious, cultural, social and academic aspects as well as its rise above gigantic past challenges like natural disasters, Martial Law, employee union strikes, etc. 



1.      The contest is open to all bona fide students and alumni of Aklan Catholic College (then Aklan College), either amateur or professional composers, bands, musicians, or singers.

2.      The song composition must be in accordance with the theme, "ACC: 70 Years as Haven of Catholic Education for Truth and Life".

3.      The song must have a duration of at least 3 minutes but not more than 5 minutes.

4.      The song must be written in English, and must not contain any vulgar, inappropriate or offensive language.

5.      If submitted through courier or personal delivery, the song entry must be submitted in a CD in MP3 or MP4 format. When submitting by e-mail, the attached file of the entry must be in an MP3 or MP4 format.

6.      Contestants may enter as many songs as they wish.

7.      Deadline of submission of entries is on September 30, 2014.

8.      Judging of entries will be based on the content and the song itself.



1.      Song entries must be submitted with the official entry form. There must be one entry form per entry. Entry forms are available at the following:

2.      Song entries must be recorded in MP3 or MP4 format.

3.      Entries may be submitted by courier, personal delivery, or e-mail. 

4.      When submitting by courier or personal delivery, the song entry must be in an audio CD. An entry must be placed in a brown envelope bearing the name(s), address(es), and contact number(s) of the composer(s). The CD must be labeled with the song title and composer(s)’s name(s). The entry must also enclose two (2) copies of lyrics sheets. Multiple entries must be submitted in their own individual envelopes, that is, one entry per envelope.  


5.      When submitting by e-mail, the entry must be in an MP3 or MP4 file attached to the e-mail together with the official entry form. The MP3 or MP4 file should be named with the title of the song. Too, a copy of the lyrics sheet in a Word document file must be attached. One email should be sent per entry. 6.      Entries must be submitted no later than September 30, 2014.

7.      Aklan Catholic College reserves the right to extend the deadline when needed.

8.      The contest organizers shall not be responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated entries.

9.      All submitted entries become properties of Aklan Catholic College.
